Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 October 2026

MealMemory is run by Noxidsoft, a sole trader in Tasmania, Australia (ABN 74 421 798 989). "We" means Noxidsoft. This page explains what we collect, why, and who else sees it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and a password. We store only a hash of your password, never the password itself.
  • Household details: household name, time zone, and the people you add (a name is optional), with their allergies, dietary needs, dislikes and meal feedback. Allergy and diet details can be health information. We use them only to filter and plan meals for your household.
  • Your kitchen data: pantry items, saved and imported recipes, weekly plans, shopping lists and prep tasks.
  • AI key (optional): if you use your own AI provider, you give us an API key. We store it encrypted.
  • Billing details: handled by Stripe. We see your plan, subscription status and billing email. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Messages you send us: feedback you submit and emails you write to us.
  • Usage events: simple counts of actions such as "plan generated" or "trial started", used to see whether the product works. They do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics scripts.
  • Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, plus standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) used for security and fixing faults.

How we use it

  • To run MealMemory: plan meals, filter out allergens, build shopping lists, and remember what your family likes.
  • To take payment and manage your subscription.
  • To send emails you need: welcome, trial reminder, payment failure, invitations, and the plan and prep reminders you get as part of the service.
  • To keep the service secure, fix faults and improve it.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your household data for advertising.

Who else handles your data

  • Hosting: Akamai/Linode, Sydney, Australia. Your data is stored there.
  • Payments: Stripe processes your card and subscription.
  • Email: SMTP2GO delivers our emails.
  • AI providers: when you generate a plan or import a recipe with AI, the pantry, preference or recipe text (and photos, if you upload them) is sent to the AI provider. On the MealMemory plan that is the provider whose key you entered (Anthropic or OpenAI), under your own account and terms. On MealMemory+ we use our own key. Allergy filtering is always checked by our own code, not left to the AI.
  • Advertising: public pages, such as recipe and dinner-idea pages, show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to show and measure ads. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services, and manage ad personalisation in Google Ad Settings. Ads are not shown inside your logged-in household screens.
  • Fonts: page fonts load from Bunny Fonts (fonts.bunny.net).

Some of these providers process data outside Australia. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Sharing and invitations

A shared week page (a link starting with /p/) shows only meal titles, days and the shopping list. It never shows names or allergies. You can stop sharing at any time. People you invite to your household can see and use that household's data. The household owner can remove them.

Consent choices

On pages that show ads, visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland may see a consent message from Google (a Google-certified consent management platform) asking whether to allow cookies and personalised ads. You can accept, decline or manage your choices there, and change them later using the link Google provides.

Cookies

MealMemory sets a session cookie when you log in, so you stay signed in. Public pages set no cookies of our own. Google AdSense may set its own cookies on those pages, as described above.

How long we keep it

While your subscription is active, we keep your data so the service works. After you cancel, we keep your household, pantry and meal history for 90 days in case you return. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, and your account data is then removed from the live system. Backups of the whole server are kept by our host and age out on their own schedule. Usage events and server logs are kept only as long as we need them for the purposes above.

Security

Connections to MealMemory use HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and AI keys are encrypted in the database. Access to the server is limited to us. No online service is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. You can edit most of it in the app. For anything else, or to delete your data, email us. You can also unsubscribe from optional reminder emails using the link in them.

Allergies: please read

MealMemory is an assistive tool. Always check product labels for your family's allergies. Do not rely on us alone.

Children

MealMemory is for adults who plan meals for their family. You may enter information about your children as part of your household. Children should not create their own accounts.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell account holders by email.

Questions or requests: [email protected]. If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
